The TYPO3 Spirit in the Spotlight

What a Community Spirit Can Accomplish—A Success Story

Nearly two months have passed since the successful first TYPO3 Camp THE CÄMP in Heidelberg. Six months ago, it wasn’t clear yet whether the idea would even get off the ground. But the TYPO3 community rose to the occasion.

Eleven sponsors stepped up, including the location sponsor SRH University. The SRH campus was made freely available to almost 170 attendees—and has already been promised for the second edition of THE CÄMP from the 4th to the 6th of June 2027.

A Resounding Success

Attendees were convinced. Location, catering, sessions, and preparation all received four or five stars across the board in the feedback form.

Around 40 LinkedIn posts, blogs, and recaps about THE CÄMP flooded our feeds—and the more we saw, the clearer it became: THE CÄMP could never have happened without the infectious TYPO3 spirit.

Collaboration Over Competition

In November 2025, TYPO3 agency Analog reached out to explore the idea of a new TYPO3 Camp in the Baden-Württemberg region with us. The name “THE CÄMP”—inspired by the regional branding campaign THE LÄND—came up in conversation. But the details aren’t really the point. What matters is how natural the collaboration felt.

You might assume two TYPO3 agencies serving the same client, SRH, would have reason to see each other as competitors—but not in the TYPO3 community.

Our weekly meetings were defined by a balanced division of work, plenty of laughs, and the kind of partnership-first attitude that’s typical of TYPO3—rare in the business world, but something we tend to take for granted in this community.

It sometimes takes an outside perspective to see what we rarely stop to notice.

An Outside Perspective

When we started looking for a suitable venue, our shared client SRH came to mind. We spoke with Simon Kambert, Strategic Brand Manager at SRH, about why SRH immediately jumped at the idea:

For us, it was a very deliberate decision. When you’ve benefited from a technology and its community for years, getting involved is the natural next step. SRH stands for education, health, personal development, and lifelong learning—so a community event like THE CÄMP aligns perfectly with our own philosophy.
—  Simon Kambert, Strategic Brand Manager, SRH

Beyond their shared philosophy, growth-oriented collaboration matters just as much to SRH:

TYPO3 Camps bring people together to share knowledge, learn from each other, and develop ideas collectively. That’s exactly the team spirit we want to foster in our own organization.

The TYPO3 Spirit Stands Out

That team spirit—as SRH aptly describes it—is what we call the “TYPO3 spirit” in the community. SRH had been observing this open, collaborative culture long before THE CÄMP, through years of practical touchpoints: joint projects with Analog and b13, strategic workshops, technical alignment sessions, community events, and conversations with other TYPO3 users.

As Simon Kambert put it: “These conversations showed us that TYPO3 isn’t just technically strong—it’s carried by people who understand our challenges.”

We asked Simon how he would define the TYPO3 spirit. His answer was unambiguous:

For us, the TYPO3 spirit is defined above all by openness, professionalism, and a strong sense of community. You quickly realize: the people in this community don’t just want to sell projects or develop software. They want to make things better, together.

Harry Glatz from Analog shared a concrete example in his LinkedIn post about THE CÄMP :

What stood out most was how open and easygoing everyone was with each other. Helping Hands, speakers, sponsors, attendees, and the organizing team all worked together to find solutions, support one another, and make the weekend something truly special.
—  Harry Glatz, Partner & Integrator, Analog Digitalagentur

His personal highlight: “Tim Klenk gave his very first session—and immediately won the award for best session. Moments like that are what make TYPO3.”

Getting Involved Is Worth It

As a TYPO3 User

Simon Kambert emphasized how important it is to SRH to continue and expand their engagement in the TYPO3 community. For them, that means supporting events like THE CÄMP going forward and enabling their team to attend community events—rather than relying solely on internal training.

In the end, it’s not just the community that benefits—it’s our own organization. Our teams come back with new ideas, a better understanding of TYPO3, and a clearer sense of their role as web managers and editors.

Speaking from our own experience—and on behalf of Analog—we can confirm how much it pays off to roll up your sleeves alongside other agencies with a genuine partnership mindset—and put your whole heart into it. Not for the brand exposure, but to create meaningful experiences for others and for ourselves. Through this collaboration, we strengthened relationships, grew through the challenges, and had a lot of fun along the way.

As Harry Glatz from Analog put it: “It was a joy working with you.”

Simon Kambert is clear: getting involved pays off—professionally, personally, and strategically. TYPO3 events aren’t just for developers. They’re places where you understand how other organizations work, what solutions exist, and what topics will matter in the future. For clients, it’s a real opportunity to step out of the pure buyer role and keep growing. Invest here, and you get a lot back: knowledge, connections, inspiration, better decisions, and a deeper understanding of your own CMS.

His call to other TYPO3 users:

Don’t just use TYPO3. Get to know the community. Bring your perspective. Send your teams to events. Support formats when you can. Because in the end, everyone benefits—the community, the agencies, the clients, and most importantly, the users of our websites.

What we’ve experienced over the past months has reinforced something important: how much it matters to be grateful for our open culture—and to keep asking ourselves whether we’re actually living up to our own philosophy.

We want to close by encouraging further community involvement and thanking everyone for the energy they’ve already put in. SRH was visibly impressed by the initiative shown by all THE CÄMP organizers and praised their can-do attitude. Because one thing THE CÄMP impressively showed: engagement starts with the courage to just get started.
